Born and raised in Israel, Yonatan has spent the past decade working in the Jewish communal world.
He was working at the Israel Reform Movement for five years, where he was at the forefront of the battle for religious freedom and equality in Israel.  Among other things, Yonatan participated in efforts to secure an egalitarian prayer platform at the Kotel and curb the activities of "Lehava", a racist organization in Jerusalem. Yonatan sat on the "religion in the city" committee of "Hitorerut b’Yerushalayim", a socio-political Jerusalem-based organization.  Yonatan holds a BA (Cum Laude) and MA in International Development and Social Change from Clark University.  He wrote his thesis on the political representation and incorporation of Arab Israelis.

Yonatan currently lives in San Francisco, where he works at the Oshman Family JCC, and is involved in multiple Jewish organizations and initiatives in the city.
