America is a religious nation.  America was founded by Deist Christian leaders who sought a new
model for religion and state (novus ordo seculorum).  America was forged with theologically
reflective guiding phrases: In G. we Trust, G. Bless America and Annuit Coeptis (original: Deo favente

).

Jewish Americans not so much…
Some Jewish Americans struggle with any form of religious affiliation.  We have a problem with G-d
concepts.  And we have a problem with prayer.

Let’s explore the problem of prayer in light of the changing religious norms in the US and the Jewish progressive urge to adapt and adjust to modernity.  What is the place of praise, thanks, gratitude, personal reflection, ethical triage and spiritual searching?
