Nahendra Modi's visit to Israel in 2017 was the first visit of a Prime Minister of India to Israel.  In celebration of that visit, Jay A. Waronker and Marian Scheuer Sofaer created a book on the synagogues of India to present to him at the Israel Museum.

Mumbai, Kolkata and Pune have synagogues that are grand structures created in the heyday of the Baghdadi Jewish community's financial success.  Kochi (aka Cochin) has one synagogue that is a world heritage site and three others that can be easily visited around Cochin.

The Bnei Israel community is still active in Mumbai and the suburb of Thane.  India offered tolerance to Jews over the course of over two thousand years, and over 30 synagogues can still be visited there.
